We are close to wrapping up our career-prep fellowship with amal academy, this fellowship was one of the most beautiful and enlightening experiences of my life. While signing up for this fellowship I was not so sure what I am getting into but what a beautiful journey this has turn out to be. From my facilitators to circle members all were really supportive and encouraging, how we displayed Amal principle of “ek aur ek gayara” in executing our tasks and helped each other in achieving a common goal really showed how helpful and caring we were of each other.

Team Work

The journey is more important than the destination.

Oliver Goldsmith once said, “Life is a journey that must be traveled no matter how bad the roads and accommodations.” We always hear those around us tell us to focus on the goal. But the journey that leads us to our dreams is what helps bring change in us and I must say Amal fellowship journey really brought the best out of me. Before this fellowship, I was a lazy and procrastinating individual who always finds ways to delay tasks but after getting into this fellowship I knew I have to do my work on time and meet the deadlines, or ill be not able to make the most of this fellowship. Getting out of my comfort zone was not an easy task for me, from sitting for 2 hours in meetings and pulling an all-nighter to complete my project works in front of a laptop was something I was not used to doing.

You never change your life until you step out of your comfort zone; change begins at the end of your comfort zone.

When we went to Tariq road to collect funds for Edhi Foundation, I was hesitant at first and afraid of rejections but soon I gathered my courage and started asking people to donate to us for the better cause, faced rejections for few times but I knew this was going to happen and if I quit now I won't be able to face myself, I kept trying and kept asking for donations, soon people were donating us and when I reflect back to that day I realize if it wasn't for getting out of comfort zone and reaching out to people it would have been a failed fundraising campaign. Getting out of comfort zone is so important yet we ignore it our professional and daily life.

Get comfortable with being uncomfortable.

Getting out of my comfort zone opened new horizons for me. I started looking at things differently. Tasks that seemed like a mountain impossible to climb seemed not that difficult when you step out of your comfort zone. Obviously, my circle members helped me in this, they were always there to help me and support me, I couldn't have don't this without them.

When I look back to my Amal journey it was full of life lessons and learning new things but as I mentioned above getting out of my comfort zone really left a profound effect on me. As Amal principle of “kam kam kam” motivates us to do hard work and keep working towards the goal no matter what the situations are I will keep trying this effort of getting out of my comfort zone in my daily and practical life.
